How much do you need?
At the 4 inch depth we recommend for topsoil / mushroom manure, one cubic yard covers about 81 square feet. Figure 4 to 6 inches of topsoil for a new lawn, or 1 to 2 inches of mushroom manure when amending existing beds.
A cubic yard weighs roughly 1.1 tons loose, so we quote both yards and tons — yards tell you how much space it fills, tons tell you what your truck has to carry.
